Graduate Civil Engineer/Construction Project Manager

A opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Civil Engineer to work within an ever growing Civil Engineering and Groundworks contractor based in Leeds, W. Yorks.


Our Organisation
Ascent Engineering is a small civil engineering contactor that currently turns over £1m annually.  We undertake Civil engineering and building projects such as foundations, drainage, ground floor slabs, roadways and external hard landscaping for Major principle contractors such as Wates, Morgan Sindall and Interserve. We are looking to grow the right candidate with us in achieving potential turnovers of up to £5m and wish for the candidate to stay and grow with the company, climbing through pay brackets as gaining experience.

Qualifications
A degree in building/civil engineering/ construction project management or relevant experience

Roles and Desired Skills

  • Good understanding of working construction drawings, ability to administrate new revisions and distribute to site teams as necessary
  • Understand procurement and tendering process within the construction industry
  • A good knowledge of and preferably site engineering experience
  • Experience in writing health and safety documents – including risk assessments and method statements
  • Excellent communicator and team player
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Good documentation skills and accurate record keeping
  • Knowledge of modern construction software – experience with Autocad would be advantageous but not essential
  • Hold a UK driving licence or close to obtaining one
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Packages
  • Excellent organisational skills are a necessity

  • Flexibility of working hours – the role may require occasional working evenings, weekends and some occasional lodging away from home

Salary and Terms

  • Initial salary will be within £14,500 - £16,500 per annum dependent on relevant qualifications, experience and vehicle requirements. Salary will be reviewed annually. The post is available immediately.  The post is a full time and the hours of work will regularly exceed 42 per week.  Annual holiday entitlement is 28 days including 8 statutory public holidays.

You are required to provide the names of two referees, one of which may be for character and one to confirm your work/academic ability.
